Sexy, Smart and from the Heart

The Fantesca namesake was a fun-loving, frolicking female character quite popular in the Italian traveling comedy troupes of the Renaissance. Often described as sexy, smart and unpretentious, Fantesca brought wit, sensuality, and insight to the “Zanni” characters of the Italian theater.

The Zanni troupes were Italy’s most popular form of theater from the 1500s to the 1700s, and it is said that Shakespeare took inspiration from their work. Fantesca inspires us in the same way: endeavor to create enduring beauty, give people something to talk about, and don’t take yourself too seriously.

Art – whether it’s experienced though theatrical plays, a dance performance, a musical concert, or simply by seeing a painting for the very first time – touches everyone in a unique way. For some, the experience can be life-changing. For others, art can be an inspiration to try something new or to nurture the realization that so many things in life can become possibility. When children have a chance to participate in an artistic activity, the opportunities art presents them can be awe-inspiring.

“Art is important for its ability to foster learning,” suggests Duane Hoff. “In fact, our daughter’s participation in dance competitions enabled her to shed her shy-little-girl personality and develop into a confident young lady. She has gained incredible poise and a superb can-do attitude for such a young person.”

Fantesca’s charitable giving focuses on artistic and educational programs. “As a young business, it is important to give back to the communities in which we do business, live and work, “ says Susan Hoff. “We are so fortunate to live in St. Helena where traditions are embraced, strangers are few, and there are so many thoughtful entrepreneurs for our children to look up to and learn from.”
